Post Tan Care

Okay so you just spent all this money on a tan and now you want to ensure it lasts at least the next week, hopefully longer. Your tans longevity is 80% up to how YOU care for it. These steps I am going to give to you are vital and please DO THEM ALL!

I won’t add any fluff, I know you just want me to get down to the nitty gritty and give you the exact steps. Here ya go!

1. RINSE

In about 8-12 hours (depending on how deep of a color you would like) the DHA should have been able to adhere to the skin cells and fully develop. Your first shower after getting a spray tan should only be a rinse. This means no shampoo, conditioner or any soap. Rinse in lukewarm water and pat dry yourself when you come out.

2. MOISTURIZE

Did you know it's best to apply body lotion and moisturizer immediately after exiting a bath or shower, while your skin is still damp. This helps to lock in the most moisture. The best lotion to use is one that is oil-free, water-based, and contains minimal fragrance-this type of product will be best in improving the longevity of a spray tan. It would be best to use a Tan Extender Lotion. Tan Extend lotion contains a hint of tanning ingredients (DHA) that will help build and keep your just off the beach tan.

Apply your moisturizer 2x per day to hydrate your skin and leave it free of cracking, fading or patching.

3. STAY HYDRATED

Just like you prepped for your tan by drinking H20, maintain your tan by drinking more. Drink half your body weight in water every day!

4. SHOWER WITH THE RIGHT PRODUCTS

You want to make sure you are showering with the right soap. Soaps such as Dove, may strip your tan. It is best to use water-based oil-free products. We offer a specially designed body cleanser packed with moisturizing agents that leave skin clean, hydrated and healthy to prolong a natural sunless glow. This wash will not strip the skin of its natural components and will prolong the developed color from DHA. Suited for all skin types. Click HERE to learn more!

5. SHAVING TIPS

Try not to shave until towards the end of your tans life. If you really need to bc you hate the way the prickles feel (this is me) then at least wait 10 hours after your session. Use a new razor, as your old one that you have in the shower is most likely dull and will drag on your skin and take your tan off with it. Skip the shaving cream and substitute with either lukewarm water, conditioner or a sulfate free, shower wash. PRO TIPs: remove the moisturizing strip from your razor and don’t press down hard when shaving.
